I sing, write, and teach.

I’m an active performer, a concert singer, recitalist & singing actor, and I’ve had the privilege to perform widely, throughout Canada and Europe, and to sing a broad repertoire, from the medieval to the contemporary. I also make music with my hands, playing modern and Baroque violin, as well as vièle, viola da gamba, and recorders.

I teach singing and historically-inspired performance at the Laurier Academy of Music & Arts (LAMA), where I also lead the Community Consort, a multi-instrumental, multidisciplinary community of practice and inquiry.

I’m also a curator of texts & music; and with Luke Hathaway I share the artistic direction of ANIMA Early Music. Together we program concerts, commission new works of text & music, and create new works for the ear and for the stage. ANIMA’s approach to music-making is historically-inspired; and we explore early music, acknowledging & affirming its (often hidden & suppressed) diversity, so that we can reclaim & requeer the repertoire and participate in a contemporary & trans-temporal community of practice.

To my work of curation and creation, I bring a background in early music & liturgical music scholarship; an interest in how music functions in different performance contexts & traditions; and a curiosity about the ‘why’ of music, as well as its ‘how’.

My music-making and teaching are informed by the Alexander Technique, in which field I am a teacher. At LAMA I offer individual Alexander Technique lessons and group classes.
