Bio/Research

I received my master’s and PhD in Psychology from Queen’s University. Prior to joining Laurier, I worked as a post-doctoral fellow in Dr. Iain McGregor's lab at the University of Sydney, Australia, and then served as a faculty member at the University of New England, Australia. I joined the Department of Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2006.

I am a behavioural pharmacologist who studies the behavioural and neural effects of drugs, with a special emphasis on drugs of abuse.

My research is focused on the brain’s endocannabinoid system. Using behavioural and immunohistochemical techniques, I examine how cannabinoid receptors are involved in normal behaviour (e.g., learning, memory, feeding, locomotion), pathological behaviour (e.g., addiction), and how cannabinoids interact with non-cannabinoid to alter behaviour and brain activity.
