Bio/Research

I am Mohawk-Ukrainian and member of the Six Nations of the Grand River. As a community-engaged practitioner and researcher, I have over 25 years of experience working with and within First Nations communities in lands and resources, education and training, and research and capacity-building. My interdisciplinary research focuses on water planning, management, and governance in the context of security, sustainability, justice, and change.

I am a Laurier graduate with a PhD (2013) and MA (1996) in Geography. I also hold a BEd from Brock University (1996), and honours BES from the University of Waterloo (1992). Prior to joining Laurier in January 2024, I was an associate professor in Rural Planning and Development, School of Environmental Design and Rural Development at the University of Guelph.

For more information on my diverse career experiences please find me on LinkedIn.

My interdisciplinary research focuses on water planning, management, and governance in the context of security, sustainability, justice, and change, with an emphasis on elevating Indigenous Peoples voices, knowledge, and experiences to inform policy and practice.
