Bio/Research

Timothy Donais is the Director of the Masters in International Policy (MIPP) program, Co-Director of the PhD Program in Global Governance (both through the Balsillie School of International Affairs), and Associate Professor in the Department of Global Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. He is the co-facilitator of the BSIA’s Conflict and Security Research Cluster, and currently serves as Laurier’s faculty research ambassador in the area of governance and policy.

Tim’s primary research interests lie in the area of post-conflict peacebuilding, with a particular focus on questions of ownership and inclusivity in peace processes, and in the field of peace operations, with a specific emphasis on civilian protection issues. Tim also has an ongoing interest in questions of security sector reform, and has worked closely with the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), one of the world’s leading research centres on security sector reform. Tim is the author of Peacebuilding and Local Ownership: Post-Conflict Consensus-Building (Routledge, 2012), The Political Economy of Peacebuilding in Post-Dayton Bosnia (Routledge, 2006), and is the editor of Local Ownership and Security Sector Reform (Lit Verlag, 2008).
